Many watch components are given a matte finish by sandblasting. After just a few minutes, the surface acquires an even, matte appearance; burrs, scratches, and minor damage are leveled out in the process. Even hard-to-reach areas of a workpiece can be treated—areas that are difficult to access with other finishing methods. Working with a sandblasting unit is also an additional means of decorative design in watchmaking.

Compressed Air Piston Compressor ABAC B2800B LN M3

A compressed air compressor is required to operate the sandblasting unit. Initially, I used a relatively small DIY-store compressor; I now use the ABAC B2800B LN M3 and appreciate its advantages. Compared to the previous device, it is very quiet and provides sufficient power for the sandblasting unit. During blasting, the compressor switches on only occasionally and then only for short periods. Hardly any condensation accumulates.
